Today my free business directory www.blinks.org.uk was let loose on world, albiet in a very quiet way. It is now live, but I’ve just asked a few people to take a look at it sign up etc. - testing in the real world, with real people.
The site is stable, but it is often hard to anticipate the flow of an application in advance. What I mean is, as a developer you may well anticipate that an application will work in one particular way, but your users insist on trying to do something else with it. In this situation, what do you do? The answer is obvious to me, you have to change your application. You may think you have built the easiest to use registration form in the whole world, but if your users don’t agree then frankly it is for nothing.

What is Blinks.org.uk
Blinks.org.uk is a Free Buisness Directory for the UK. There are plenty of business directories out there, but most of them are terrible. The aim of blinks.org.uk is to create something that is easy to use and navigate for somebody who stumbles across the site hand something that appeals to search engines.
The registration proceedure is quick and unobtrusive although it does require you to valiadate your email address. Every entry also has to be approved before it goes live and each buisness musrt provide a valid address (whether or not they choose to publicise it on the website), the aim being to create a very spam free directory.
Good for SEO
Blinks.org.uk has been designed to appeal to web developers and companies carrying out SEO for their clients. Each registered user can add multiple unrelated businesses quickly and easily, so it easy to create and maintain lsitings for each of your clients.
